I participated in a Technique Challenge the other day. We were to creat a 3D item. These are fun and easy to do. You do have to make sure you start with a punch, framelit or Big Shot die that is symmetrical. I haven’t played much with the new Elegant Butterfly Punch, so it was time to pull it out!
First I punched 4 butterflies from the Brights Designer Series Paper collection using the Elegant Butterfly Punch.
I then scored and folded 3 of the butterflies as shown. Next comes the fun part — creating the 3D butterfly.
I love using our Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue. It gives you a little wiggle room when gluing the wings together. I glued one butterfly wing to another butterfly wing. Then I glued a third butterfly wing to the previous two, so it will look like the butterfly in the photo below.
I then placed glue on the back of the final butterfly and placed by dimensional butterfly on top of it.
This is the butterfly as it looks when completed. I, of course, felt it needed a bit of bling, so I added 4 of Rhinestone Jewels to the center of the butterfly. Below is the finished card.
I embossed the Pumpkin Pie card base with our Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. I used the Blossom Punch to punch out the Whisper White card stock and ran the blossom through the Big Shot using a retired Embossing Folder. The Early Espresso card stock was trimmed using the Adorning Accents Edgelit. The “Thank You” is from the Curly Cute stamp set and was embossed with White Embossing Powder. The 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon was then added.
Try some 3D art with punches or Big Shot dies soon. It really makes a card pop!
