Well, I was cleaning off my desk and noticed the envelope liners from the March Paper Pumpkin and I told you in the last blog post I would do something else with these liners. I knew, since they were right in front of me, there was no better time than the present. I took some Calypso Coral cardstock for the card base and added a layer of Bumblebee.

Now was the time to take a look at my stamp sets and see what kind of flowers I had that sort of matched the flowers on the paper. Out came my Honey Bee stamp set, along with the Detailed Bee dies. I felt the flowers were a pretty good match in this set. I stamped them in Garden Green and decided to use my markers for coloring the flowers. I ended up finding a similar yellow marker and then used my Calypso Coral marker to add a little dimension.

Next came my retired Stitched Labels die, and I stamped a sentiment from the Honey Bee set in Calypso Coral ink on the diecut. I then threaded some old Grapefruit Grove ribbon through the diecut and adhered it to the paper. This was added to the card base and I attached the flowers with our Mini Dimensionals. I added a few retired dots for a little something extra.

For this card, I wasn’t that impressed with the block design on the other envelope liner and decided to use two other retired dies, Bold Butterflies and Butterflies, to cut the paper. I knew once I cut out the butterflies, you wouldn’t notice the blocks quite as much. I used Petal Pink cardstock as the base and then adhered Calypso Coral cardstock, after running it through the Painted Textures embossing folder. Once again, the sentiment came from the Honey Bee set and placed on another diecut from the Stitched Labels die. I added the Grapefruit Grove ribbon and a few other dots.

Hope you enjoyed my alternative cards using the envelope liners, and I always encourage you to dig into your stash and use it. Of course, there are always wonderful stamp sets and dies in the current catalogs that you can substitute for any of these retired items.
