Well, about a month ago, my sis-in-law, Susanne, and I got this brilliant idea to give ourselves an incentive to step out of our comfort zones and spread our wings. What was I thinking? We decided that once a week, I would pick a stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! catalog and she would pick a stamp set from the catalog she is more familiar with, meaning she’s a demo for a competing stamp company. We would then find similar sets from our respective catalogs and create a work of art, or really just a card!
Above on the right is the stamp set Susanne picked for me to try and duplicate. This one was easy-peasy for me to match using the Hand-Penned Petals set and coordinating dies. So the journey begins!

First I took a scrap of white cardstock and started playing with my Stampin’ Up! Blends. I am by no means an artist and have no idea of different color combos. I took a look at the Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper to get an idea of the colors and just started messing. By the time I had finished coloring in the images, my desk was covered in just about every Blend I owned. We all have had those instances when you stand up and look at your work and think “ugggggg, not the look anyone would like”, but I decided these turned out okay and went ahead and die cut them.

Now that the hard part was over, I got out the Designer Series Paper and the Hand-Penned Memories & More Card Pack. The smaller 3 x 4 pieces are from the Card Pack, and the larger 4 x 5-1/4 pieces are cut from the Designer Series Paper. I simply matched up the Blushing Bride and Misty Moonlight cardstocks for the card bases and then added some matching retired ribbon. The blue Card Pack piece already had a saying on it and I took my retired Modern Label Punch and covered it up with my preferred sentiment. I used the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch on the pink card.

For these cards, I pulled out the Mint Macaron and Garden Green cardstocks for the card bases. I then cut the 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 Designer Series Paper diagonally and added them to the card. Two more Card Pack pieces were layered on and then some 2021-2023 In Color Jewels to finish off the darker green card for a little extra bling.
This has been fun and I’m looking forward to the next few weeks and our challenge. Make sure you check out Susanne’s YouTube channel, and, of course, mine. We’re also having a “friendly” competition on the number of subscribers we have on our channels. Don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE and LIKE while you are there. She’s already ahead of me, so tell your friends!!!
Keep stampin’ and scrappin’!
