A couple of managers from Stampin’ Up! hosted a Facebook Live and created a card for us using the Splendid Thoughts stamp set and coordinating dies. Once again, I didn’t have that stamp set. I went in search through my sets and decided that Petal Palette would do something close to their design.

The card base for the demonstration was Crumb Cake cardstock, along with Blushing Bride, Early Espresso and some pink foil DSP from the Splendid Day package. For me, I used the same colors in cardstock but used the coordinating framelits for Petal Palette and the retired Love You Always DSP.

The technique they chose was using our White Craft ink, dropping some refill in the lid and then doing a wash across the card base. I started out using my Aqua Painter but realized it was a bad idea, as I just ended up putting water on my card. So, I got out another card base and this time just used a regular paint brush to get the watercolor effect. Since we were using Craft ink, it takes forever to dry; so I poured Clear embossing powder over it to make it set. Now I had my base.

Next I stamped in the White Craft ink the leaf image and then embossed it with White embossing powder. I then took a die from the old Stitched Labels die and kind of made an edge around the Blushing Bride cardstock just to give it a little something extra.

I then added my two die cuts made from the Early Espresso and Love You Always DSP, attaching them to the Blushing Bride cardstock. I then tied a bow from white Baker’s Twine and placed the final piece on my base using dimensionals. Of course, you always need a little bling and I went with the Elegant Faceted Gems.

This was a fun exercise for me, using what I already have. I think I will make a couple more of these but use the Early Espresso as a card base and forego the wash technique. I think that would make a stunning card.

Hope you look through your stash and try a similar card with what you have laying around. Keep scrappin’ and stampin’!
