I’m in mourning but not for the reasons you may think. After more than 18 years of stamping and scrapping, I finally lost a stamp from one of my stamp sets. The Sweet Songbirds stamp set is one of the few sets I bought this last year because I really don’t care for birds, but I couldn’t resist this guy. Well, this is a photopolymer stamp and the little wing is gone forever from the set. He’s tiny and clear and I carried the stamp set around to my Craft Club and home, and I’m afraid he “took wing” and flew away from the nest.
Anyway, the simple card on the left was made using the Adorable Owls stamp set from the Sale-a-bration catalog. This was the card I made for a Make-n-Take for my Beginner Basics card class at our Sun City Sundial Craft Club. I kept it easy with simple layers, stamping the image and sentiment and coloring with watercolor pencils. I did show them the trick of making the punched label look like there was a coordinating larger punch to use and we also cheated on the ribbon. I thought this was enough to keep them interested without overloading them with everything you can do stamp-wise.
My other card was me playing using the same paper and following the template from a card I had seen on one of the blog hops I scope out every once in a while. I tried to find it again to give the demonstrator credit, but you know how that goes. For the life of me, I couldn’t find it and I didn’t even remember which blog hop it was from.
Hope you enjoy this simple and fun card. I will post an obituary for the loss of my stamp later! Keep stampin’ and scrappin’!
