I mentioned a while back I had attended a Mix & Mingle event for Arizona Stampin’ Up! demonstrators in the Phoenix area. All of us attending participated in a card swap. I showed you in an earlier post the card I created for the swap. I also said I would be taking the other gals’ swap cards and recreating them with stuff from my stash. The above card was made by Debbie Leib as her swap card. I simply took all of the cards I received and just drew one randomly and Debbie’s was it! The following is my version of her card.

First off, I am in the process of creating some fishing scrapbooking pages and happened to have this designer paper laying on my desk. Debbie had taken strips of cardstock and run it through an embossing folder on her design. I took the same idea and ran the designer paper through my Chevron embossing folder. I then cut the paper in 3/4″ x 5-1/4″ strips and attached them to a Soft Suede card base. Instead of running another piece of cardstock across the card horizontally, I used some retired Burlap ribbon and attached it to the card. She used some twine she tied around the top of her card, and since I used the designer paper, I felt I had enough going on without it.

I decided to kind of go with her masculine/outdoor theme and went to my Best Catch stamp set with its coordinating dies. I tore the edges of a piece of Soft Suede cardstock measuring about 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ and stamped “It’s Your Day!” in Early Espresso. I then stamped off the hooks image and placed it randomly around the cardstock piece.

Next came the fun part! I stamped the fish in Early Espresso on Crumb Cake cardstock and used the dies to cut out the image. I added some sparkle (which is hard to see in my photo) on the fins of the fish using a Glimmer Brush from my stash. Everything was attached to the card with dimensionals.

I stamped the sentiment on another piece of Crumb Cake cardstock, using the same stamping off method with the hooks. I still had a piece of the designer paper left and placed it behind my sentiment to finish off the inside of my card.

Thanks again to Debbie Leib for her card and the inspiration for my creation. Keep stampin’ and scrappin’!
