A couple of weeks ago, I participated in a retreat I told you about earlier — CardPlay. The card above was created by Julie Heitz, The Chirpy Cardmaker of Quilts. Her card utilized the In Color 24-26 Peach Pie Stripe DSP, Thoughtful Journey DSP, Mossy Meadow cardstock and Spotlight on Nature stamp set and dies.

She used one of the Thoughtful Journey papers and stamped the image directly on the die cut paper. What a great way to use the paper and keep it simple yet elegant.

Above is my card. As we were creating along with Julie, I didn’t have the Spotlight on Nature bundle, so I whipped through my stash and came up with some old Watercolor Wonder DSP from 2012 I thought would work. I used retired Island Indigo ink and cardstock to coordinate with the Watercolor Wonder DSP, along with Daffodil Delight cardstock. I used the Butterfly Basics and Butterfly Gala stamp sets for the image and sentiment. The dies I used were Stitched Shapes and Everyday Details. I found some coordinating ribbon for the bow. Of course, all of these items are retired but I love them on this card.

Here is the inside of my card.

Even though I liked the previous card I created, I thought there was no reason for me not to create my own background to stamp my flower image on. I sponged Mossy Meadow, Balmy Blue and Pale Papaya onto my die cut. I love how it turned out. I did use the 24-26 In Color 6×6 DSP on this card.

You’ll be seeing more of the cards from the CardPlay retreat. Make sure you keep your eyes open for the next retreat. The demos doing it are fabulous and make sure to check out their Facebook pages. I created a link to Julie’s page up by her card.

Keep stampin’ and scrappin’!
