In honor of the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog, I thought I would take one of the pages from the catalog and see if I could duplicate one of the artists’ cards using the supplies I had on hand. As you know, I’m in love with my randomizer app and asked it to pick a page for me. Believe it or not, it picked Page 10, the beginning of the catalog and the Beauty of the Earth Suite. I don’t have this particular stamp set, Beauty of Friendship, but I do plan on purchasing the Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper shown also on Page 130 of the catalog. I love the colors and think I can use it on lots of different projects.

I went to my stash and found the Rooted In Nature retired stamp set I thought would work perfectly to replicate one of the cards shown. I chose the card in the upper right-hand corner of the catalog page.

I started with an Early Espresso card base and some retired Designer Series Paper in a wood design. You can find a similar paper on Page 132, In Good Taste, that has some of the same backgrounds. My wood paper was cut to 5-1/4 x 4. I also cut another wood design at 2 x 4 for the tag, using a retired tag topper punch to create the tag. First I added the retired Early Espresso ribbon to the paper and wove it through the tag and attached the entire piece to the card base.

I stamped the tree image in Soft Suede on white cardstock and cut out the die using the coordinating dies with the Rooted In Nature stamp set. Birds aren’t my favorite thing, so I went through my stamps and found a small bird image in the old Harvest Blessings stamp set. I stamped the bird with Soft Suede ink on So Saffron cardstock and fussy cut the image. Teeny Tiny Wishes came out of retirement and was used for the “just for you” sentiment and I simply trimmed around this image also.

Now comes the fun part. I placed a small amount of adhesive on the tag and added some linen thread. Then using Stampin’ Dimensionals on all of the images, I mounted them on the tag in a similar placement as my original inspiration card from the catalog.

Look through your stash and see if you can create something similar from the different images on Page 10 of the catalog. Tree images are always great to have in your stash, even if they are only used to enhance a background on a card. Keep the Beauty of Friendship stamp set in mind if you decide it would make a great addition to your stamping collection. Keep stampin’ and scrappin’!
