I had fun on Saturday watching the Stampin’ Up! World Cardmaking Day projects. Let me show you the projects the staff created and then a photo of my card, since I’m using what I have around the craft room.

This was the card from the Stampin’ Up! staff. I didn’t have anything close to this, but I decided to go ahead with the same template and created the following.

I started off with a Delightful Dijon card base and some paper that was simply in my stash that had a fall vibe to it. I layered that to my base and then punched a 2-3/8″ circle and cut it in half out of some other coordinating paper. I looked for a stamp that had a circle to it and found this from an old Paper Pumpkin kit, stamped it in Pecan Pie and colored in the leaves using a Delightful Dijon marker. I punched it out and also cut it in half. I layered the three half circles on the card and used dimensionals to pop up the stamped image. Next I used another piece of paper and cut it a little smaller than the dimensions on the instruction sheet and then stamped my sentiment on the banner in Early Espresso. I placed it on the card also using dimensionals and then, of course, added my bling.

Next came this card from Stampin’ Up!

Once again, I went to my stash and I thought I would try to stay with my fall theme. Here is what I came up with.

I used the Delightful Dijon card base again and stamped the Woodgrain background stamp on the front using the Delightful Dijon ink for a tone-on-tone look. I stamped a couple of leaves from the Vintage Leaves set in Staz-On and then watercolored the leaves using Merry Merlot, Pecan Pie and Evening Evergreen ink. I stamped an image from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set three times on some more scrap cardstock and then took my AquaPainter and simply swished some ink across the image and then cut it out using the Stitched Rectangle dies. I stamped “Blessed” from the Festive and Bright stamp set and then placed everything on my card, popping up the sentiment and adding some more bling. I really had fun with this since I hadn’t used my AquaPainters in a long time.

Last, but certainly not least, is the final card from Stampin’ Up!

I have to admit this was not my normal type of card nor a favorite, but I was trying to stick to keeping with the layouts Stampin’ Up! staff created, and you’ll see the changes I made on my creation below.

First I used the Azure Afternoon, Berry Burst and Lemon Lolly cardstock and ink. I didn’t have the punch they used but instead went to my Note Tag punch and simply did the same technique they did. I decided on a horizontal card instead of vertical, and I happened to have some embossed Lucky Stars in my leftover scraps from another card and thought that would work well to add a little bit more to the card, even though you can’t see it really well on the photo. I used their same template to place my tags and added a little more bling and there you have it. Still not my style but I’m glad I stuck with it.

What a fun World Cardmaking Day, and you can still go the Stampin’ Up! website and see the videos for the cards. Just click here and check it out.

Keep stampin’ and scrappin’!
